DCR Posted July 16, 2011 Share #41 Posted July 16, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Yevgeny, first congratulations to your beautiful camera. Second: the strap's the reason why I'm still hesitating getting the camera. Actually paid for an M9-P with 35 Cron already, just waiting for the hardware. A virgin Ti is still available at a dealer where I currently live, but that darn strap. Also the holster doesn't look secure. Add the leather that will wear off over time and show a certain patina. Then the titanium. Actually softer than stainless steel, still harder than brass, but not scratch-proof at all. The special coating is mainly against fingerprints. Meaning: It's not the promised robust tool to use, it's quite a delicate tool. If you don't mind it aging rather quickly, then you got the most beautiful camera. If you're concerned about resale value, well, then better lock the thing up. Hope you find a solution for the strap. As someone pointed out, a Luigi case may do the trick, but then again, they are built for the regular M8/9s. You'd need a special edition case. Good luck with whatever way you choose! markgay Posted July 17, 2011 Share #42 Posted July 17, 2011 I have been thinking about the failure , and I suspect now that it was an human eror again, my error, in fact. I did not double check that the connector made fast to the body and and clicked. That is indeed the problem. The lever which locks the bolt into the side of the camera has to be pushed up. Crucially, this lever is not held in place by the base plate. There is a gap. It would be much better if Leica/ Audi had designed it so that once the base plate was on, the lever could not move (if indeed it does). I've not had any problem but I might do a little improvising with some metal and glue when I have time. Regards, Mark Money Circus

Secured the lever, closed the plate , found a Mannfrotto bolt in my drawer. Attached it in the bottom plate and, cord around my neck, went shooting. The loop disengaged twice. Fortunately, the camera was safe, hanging around my neck... It is the problem.
Mark2 Posted July 17, 2011 Share #44 Posted July 17, 2011 I think the problem here is that the person who designed it and Leica never expected anyone to actually use it for phorography so didn't give any thought to these practicalities. The M9Tit is not a photographer's camera, it's a collector's camera, IMVHO, and it has no business being anywhere but safely inside a glass display cabinet. Howard, I have just ordered the Sniper online. Thank you. Yevgeny. I suggest you sell the titanium m9. You paid so much for it but it turned out to be a deisgn failure. I tried the teapot handle as well. It feels like it's going to drop out.
