tah Posted July 12, 2011 Share #1 Posted July 12, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) On the M9-forum there is a thread about a SD-card reading problem after installing the new firmware (for M9). The card shows images with 0 KB. http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-m9-forum/190056-serious-sd-card-write-issues-after.html I have experienced the same with my M8.2 and a SanDisk Extreme III 4 GB after installing the new firmware (for M8/8.2). Others with that problem? Regards, Tore

jaapv Posted July 12, 2011 Share #2 Posted July 12, 2011 I had it on my M8u, a number of firmwares back. Threw the card in the dustbin and never had the problem since (or before for that matter)
tah Posted July 12, 2011 Author Share #3 Posted July 12, 2011 Thanks for the rapid reply, Jaap. Perhaps it's time to buy a new card. Will the SanDisk SDHC Extreme Pro (45 MB/s) give M8.2 any benefits? Tore
jaapv Posted July 12, 2011 Share #4 Posted July 12, 2011 None at all, except a slightly faster write time to your computer. It may even give compatability problems with the camera. I would advise 4Gb or maybe 8Gb UltraII.
john_newell Posted July 12, 2011 Share #5 Posted July 12, 2011 I had read that thread and have been trying to induce a failure on my M8 with SanDisk 4GB Extreme III 30 mb/s and SanDisk 8GB Extreme 30 mb/s (three of the former, two of the latter). I have been unable to get any kind of glitch or bobble.

john_newell Posted July 12, 2011 Share #7 Posted July 12, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Yeah, well......IMNSHO 90%+ of card errors involving quality, non-counterfeit cards are user-induced. If you adopt a few simple steps and buy decent quality cards that don't push the envelope at either end you will probably never have a problem. It's easy to blame the firmware, though...
