90mm Elmar-C aperture ring

I have acquired an excellent example of the 90mm f4 Elmar-C lens. Curiously, however, the white spot against which one sets the aperture is offset some 80 degrees in a an anti-clockwise direction. (To the left when viewed from the front). A local repairer told me this was normal for that type of lens but I am not so sure since I have seen another example of this lens with the aperture setting spot in the conventional position. Can anyone shed light on the matter?

It is NOT normal : the white dot is normally aligned with the focus index, i.e., at 12 o'clock; this doesn't neccesarly mean that your lens doesn't work properly, but it has been surely maintained with no much care: I'd say you ought to arrange a professionaly made revision with the dealer.
