The problem I'm having is that it's very confusing understanding their different "membership" types. Print vs. Online. One gives you their magazine and the other??? If you're a print member do you not have access to online publications? Can't they just have one type of membership and make it easy? Suggestions welcome, and thanks!!! I am a member since 1970, I receive the printed edition of the quarterly Viewfinder (optional) and have access to both high and low definition versions of the online edition (in fact, to all issues since the beginning of the publication 44 years ago). Brian Bower Posted July 9, 2011 Share #4 Posted July 9, 2011 The only difference is that the 'print' membership gets you, in addition to all the other benefits, a printed copy of the 'Viewfinder ' magazine through the post. I think that the difference in cost reflects the cost of printing and the postage costs which are significant for overseas members like me in the UK. Nevertheless I still like to have a 'proper' magazine and I think that my subscription to the Society is well worthwhile. The meetings are always friendly,interesting and well organised, there is a good mix with many Leica users as well as collectors and a huge amount of knowledge and knowhow available. Try it for a year, I don't think that you will regret it. I joined in 1997 by the way and have made many Leica friends as a result. Do you really drive (or have you driven) a Sea Fury? I flew on the airshow circuit in the US, and raced at Reno. A wonderful airplane, faster than a Mustang and MUCH faster than a Spit. I have visited the Royal Navy Historic Flight at Yeovilton, they're a great bunch of guys, and have many friends with the Shuttleworth Collection at Old Warden. I was confused by the website, thinking that if you signed up for the print version you could not access "Viewfinder" magazine online. I now see that is not the case, and will look forward to receiving the printed versions in the mail. In the meantime I'm having a BLAST catching up on old issues by downloading from the site. There is so much great information. Right now I'm reading an article from 2009 (Volume 42, Number 4) entitled "Working with the M9 - Some early thoughts" by Brian Bower.
