Holybasil Posted September 5, 2011 Share #41 Posted September 5, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've ended up with the Voigtlander Nokton Classic 50mm f1.1. I was able to shoot a concert at f1.1, 1/250s, ISO 640 and capture shots that would have been nothing but blurs on the X1. Unfortunately, I still haven't bothered to pick up an infared filter, so all the performers wearing black look like they're wearing purple. Still have the X1 although I need to sell it soon. I've been using it as a wide angle since I haven't picked up a 28mm for the M8 yet. While the IR filters are the best option, the magenta blacks can be fixed in post. Remember to download the M8 profile created for aperture and LR.
Advertisement Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 Hi Holybasil, Take a look here Hesitantly moving from X1 to an M8. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted September 6, 2011 Share #42 Posted September 6, 2011 If you "fix" maganta blacks in post you will get a green or cyan shift elsewhere in your image.
DWatts Posted September 11, 2011 Share #43 Posted September 11, 2011 Epson RD-1 and its variants... Epson R-D1 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia selling your X1 2nd hand can get you a 2nd hand Epson RD-1 (and maybe some spare $$) as compared to having to top up with $$ to get an M8. Mount should be the same as M8's however, the sensor can only manage 6MP as compared to M8's 10MP... Where can I get an Epson R-D1 - tried eBay but only very expensive one from Hong Kong ? Stateowned Posted September 11, 2011 Share #44 Posted September 11, 2011 i absolutely love my m8 which i got instead of my x1 as said before the low light stuff isnt better but what i like more is the posibility for faster lenses on a larger sensor there for giving me more "bokeh"
pop Posted September 11, 2011 Share #45 Posted September 11, 2011 Where can I get an Epson R-D1 - tried eBay but only very expensive one from Hong Kong ? That takes a bit of patience and luck. I had been waiting for more than half a year for mine.
Holybasil Posted September 11, 2011 Share #46 Posted September 11, 2011 That takes a bit of patience and luck. I had been waiting for more than half a year for mine. May I ask why you'd want one? It's specs are even inferior to the M8.
pop Posted September 11, 2011 Share #47 Posted September 11, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) The R-D1 was my first digital RF camera, being rather affordable. I liked the handling and the IQ very much (a bit soft, perhaps). I did not care for the finder's small base, hence I bought an M8 and sold the R-D1.
