gfspencer Posted July 6, 2011 Share #1 Posted July 6, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I know that you are not supposed to use an SDHC card to upgrade the firmware on an M8 but can you use an SDHC card for photos? If so, is there any advantage to using a Class 10 card? (I don't take photos in rapid succession. I'm very slow and deliberate.) I was actually looking for plain old SD cards and there don't seem to be many around.
Advertisement Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Hi gfspencer, Take a look here SDHC on M8. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
JKphotography Posted July 6, 2011 Share #2 Posted July 6, 2011 I used an SDHC Sandisk Ultra 4GB card to upgrade the firmware without any issues. The previous owner had a Sandisk 4GB Extreme card (Class 6) 20mb a second, and writing the files to the SD card was faster compared to my Sandisk Ultra 4GB which is 15mb a second. Don't know how far you could go though.
jaapv Posted July 6, 2011 Share #3 Posted July 6, 2011 That is only if the camera has the old firmware that was not SDHC-enabled. Obviously you cannot update to the newer SDHC capable firmware using a card the camera cannot read yet. Now, with the newer firware versions, it is not an issue. chris_livsey Posted July 6, 2011 Share #6 Posted July 6, 2011 Leica persist in only specifying an SD card for updates and also list the recent update for the M8, no mention of the M8.2 which has cause some of a nervous disposition to worry. The attention to detail is lacking, probably making another 1500 M9P to follow the 1500 the say they have sold.On this page:- Leica to launch new compact system in 2012 [update] - British Journal of Photography
