Sometimes when I try to contribute to a thread, my ost does not appear but my username an the time appear in the column to the right of the thread column (whose function eludes me). I think I have done exactly what I have done when my post does appear. Could someone please explain what I am doing wrong.

It has happened several times. The most recent was last night when I tried to contribut to the thread about a French site. Admittedly, the thread had gone off topic and my post was relevant to the digression rather than to the original topic. But it has happened on other recent occasions when my post has been directly relevant

Admittedly, I lurk more than I post, but I have nearly one hundred posts which is not bad for an octogenarian one-finger typist who is a computer illiterate. One of the reasons I don't post more is the uncertainty that post willmappear. I lurked for several years before discovering how to register. Although I have been a keen amateur photographer for more than seventy-five years and a Leica user for more than forty years I had never used a personal computer unti I decided to "go digital" with a D2 a few years ago. Now, with an M9 and an M9p on the way and having successfully made some prints in Lightroom, I still find the Forum puzzling.

Sometimes French is clearer than English. Translate into French " I like climbing plants". The two possible meanings are clearly differentiated in French. On the other hand " Mes jumelles grandissent" has two different meanings which require two translations into English. Who'd be a translator.

Is this the post from last night? You posted that at 21:38 and it is visible on the thread.

My post is not in the thread on my computer, nor is your post of the last few minutes: I saw it by clicking on the entry in your name in th column to the right of thevthread column.

Alwyn, the name to the right indicates the last person to post to a thread - which if you've just posted is of course you!

When you look at the thread are you sure you are not looking at the first page of a thread that covers more than one page? If your post was on page 2, and you were looking at page 1, then you wouldn't be able to see your post. If you look to the right of the list of threads you'll see a link in red that allows you to go directly to the last page.

If you are clicking on the thread title, that will always take you to the first page.

So, you cannot see my post directly above yours in THIS thread?

Thanks Steve. I didn't know about pages in threads but had assumed they went simply on. You may have seen my res ponse to Andy Barton. I will try and get myself sorted out and even discover how to post a photograph.

Andy, I still can't find your earlier post in the thread or mine innthe French website thread.

My first post in this thread is 7 above yours. Scroll up and you will be able to see it. It is post number 7 (post numbers are visible on the top right of each post)

Andy, I am using my iPad which I usually use for the Forum. Later, I will try my Mac and see whether it is different. Certainly, on the iPad your earlier post and mine on the French site thread are missing.
