Dear all,

I'll be in Frankfurt, zurich and luzern for few days. I'd like to visit store(s) that sells used and new equipment (not necessary leica's). Especially, flextight scanner accessories.

Regards,

Mohammed

I second the Fotopro Ganz suggestion for Zurich. Competent people, large selection of used cameras and equipment, decent prices. [1]

If you have the time and energy, I also suggest Lichtblick in Konstanz / Constance, Germany. Great selection of pretty much anything you might need (albeit I don’t know about the flextight thing). Also, it’s quite different a landscape and town to both Frankfurt and Zurich which might be interesting. By train, it will take you about 80 minutes from Zurich to get there.

Cheers,

-Sascha

[1]: Keep in mind, though, that the Swiss Franc is on an all-time high compared to both the Euro and Dollar. e.g. a Leica M9 will cost you ~ € 6600 in Zurich, more than a thousand Euro less in Germany – both times list prices.

Re prices, you have to compare prices excluding VAT, in which case the price differences are even higher.

I have not yet seen listed prices in Switzerland for the M9-P ( at least, the official list of Leica's representative still carries the old one from May 23rd). But as far as Geneva is concerned, one shop has one for 7,950 CHF and another one for 7,350 CHF. Both in black.

M9 offered at CHF 6,990.

Thanks guys,

I was looking for stores mainly in Frankfurt and I know that Swiss shops are in general more expensive due the exchange rate. I use to live in Geneva for about 4 years and I know how expensive it is, but lovely place that makes me feel home each time I visit.

I'll search more for stores in Frankfurt with large used equipment display.

Thanks gain to all

Foto Brell on Kaiserstrasse, just down from the main station and a block away on Taunusstr is another shop (pro oriented) which has second hand stuff too.

Juergen, is that the Leica store on Am Salzhaus? Do you like it? I tend to feel I am going into a fashion store rather than a photo shop.

Make sure you make an appointment before you go there. Strange opening hours and little communication.

Yes it is and I agree, it's a little bit like a fashion shop and their pricing policy is accordingly, but nevertheless, they're all very knowledgable about the stuff they sell. Not that I buy there very often, but it is always an experience to go there.
