Advertisement Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Hi lykaman, Take a look here Light Meter ? X1. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
pgeobc Posted June 24, 2011 Share #2 Â Posted June 24, 2011 Well, I'm not really trying to give you a bad time by writing this, but if you have to ask this question, the likely answer is "no." It takes quite a bit of experience and judgement to use a manual light meter as accurately as the built-in light meter of the X1 does it automatically. Â I do, however, recomment that you buy a used light meter, a good but inexpensive one, and learn to use it. That way, the above might not be true, always. wda Posted June 24, 2011 Share #3 Â Posted June 24, 2011 Only in the most extreme circumstances, or in the studio. But the X1 is designed to be a compact companion without the need for a multitude of extras. What difficulties are you encountering using the excellent in-built exposure meter? Â Have you explored using manual metering for those tricky situations? I can honestly say that I encounter very few exposure problems with the X1 which can't be solved using the manual mode. lykaman Posted June 24, 2011 Author Share #4  Posted June 24, 2011 Hi, I was using light meters way long ago with my 111f & then M3..the M6 is fine and I’m not looking to improve on the already excellent X1 metering. It was just a thought to see if anyone had as they will get different readings, did they use both.. It was just an in exercise in knowledge gathering..  I intend to try using both camera & hand held metering..Just to satisfy myself...
