Being on Acid is not necessarily bad. I'm not sure if you're trying to insult me or what but I kinda like giving the impression that I'm a Crazy Artist on drugs and all. I mean, why not? Jimmy Hendricks, Jim Morrison and friends gained huge success and credibility, thanks to Acid.

I took it as it's something bad.

The way I see it, you are the one insulting others here.

The way you write and the way you reason, bring a number of questions to my mind.

Being as you say a, ''crazy artist on drugs'' does not give you the right to insult others!

I didn’t read any impoliteness in his initial remarks.

Maybe not initially but read further down ..

He questions whether the OP's on Acid. .. Isn't that an insult or what?

EDIT - Enough of this from my part. It's not fair on the OP.

Well, isn't the "eye in the Tree" an insult to the viewers? Or simply a sign of someone being on acid just as was the creator of Alice in wonderland himsel???

All in all, I think that no matter how you turn it, it pans out that I'm not too wrong: Acid cN be good. It can also improve your very dramatic PP skills!

Well, it seems that this photo has garnered considerable attention, but for reasons other than I intended. The blame for that lies partially with me, for offering an interpretation -- something I seldom do, save for being suggestive with the title.

For the record, nothing in the image was "Photoshopped" (I don't even own Photoshop), and the girl is not my daughter.

For those who are interested, this is the back story: The girl happened to be passing by after I had spotted the scene, while out with my wife. Like most instances, it's the light that first got my attention -- there was indeed something magical about it and how it illuminated the simple scene. When the girl passed by, along with a few other children, I had already composed the scene and focused as I wished... she simply completed the image.

As for my interpretation, I have taken other photos that have conveyed the same feeling to me. It always happens after the fact, no doubt, but I never claimed otherwise. But, I've gotten to a stage now where I can almost predict which scenes will invoke this feeling. I'll share two other images (one Leica, one not Leica, so I'm only offering the links) as examples:

Zenfolio | Prosophos. | Favourites - 2010

Zenfolio | Prosophos. | Favourites - 2009

As for the commentary generated, I do consider much of it rude; this of course differs from being constructively critical. For those that champion honesty, that's my honest answer. I choose not to respond to rudeness, choosing instead to take and share photographs.

Peter.

NB is obviously not on acid, he spelled Jimi Hendrix's name wrong.

Probably the truest words you have ever written on this forum.

Which also totally explains why I believe that your work is among the most consistently banal, if not mediocre, that I have ever seen. But you already knew my thoughts about it.

I'm ok with the fact that it only has to do with my bad taste... if it makes you feel better.

I suppose the problem with NB23 may be his parents/school/life never taught him how to behave with people.

Or maybe he's a frustrated person and this takes him to be more agressive than he should.

Or maybe Peter's picture struck him so deeply in his unconscious to push him to react this way.

Or maybe that being a black sheep for such a long time made him feel a little alone and insecure.

I'm no headshrinker, so I can't tell you which one is the correct diagnosis.

Anyway this kind of behaviour i sometimes recurring on this Forum, that's democracy.

Funny thread.

I am reminded of the kind of gushing explanations given by tour guides in galleries sometimes with photographic exhibitions - I can accept that with a painting every element of the image, every colour, was a purposeful choice by the artist and may have special significance. Of course there are photographers who stage elaborate scenes and then photograph them (I can't recall THE famous one right now).

I'm not saying that the OP did or didn't take the photograph with the story in mind, and am not commenting on the image, but as a general point, IMHO if an image needs an explanation to convey some intended message then it's failed - the same applies to jokes or impersonations.

Funny how quickly things get feisty on the Forum these days.

I think NB23 makes some reasonable point regarding the original image, but he does lack the adequate the social ability to communicate his ideas in a respectable way? Maybe... But I do wonder, is it worse to be overtly disrespectful or to be condescending and preachy? I don't know, but I do know which causes an immediate backlash.

That said, I kind of agree with NB23. Didn't much care for the image (not to say your a bad photographer, the link you provide to your selects were quite outstanding), and the explanation was even worse! It felt severely pretentious and pedantic (probably that's what inspired so much hostility from NB23) BUT I do understand that sometime (especially when taking photos) there's that split moment of inspiration and you instinctively click the shutter, and it's only later, upon reviewing the image, do you really understand what it is that inspired you and the thoughts that were going through your mind at that time.

And although I find NB23's tone/attitude to be less than agreeable, I think he does offer a bit of somewhat constructive criticism.

I spoke to my parents and they told me that they were very proud of me: I never took drugs. Don't drink too much. No Vices. No criminal record. Never fought. Done well in school and went far in University. Doing well in life. Travel a lot. I'm Loving husband and father. And as my dad likes it, I am a Macho Man. A Bronco Man.

And what is a Bronco Man, you ask? A Bronco man is someone who likes a good discussion and doesn't mind a good blast from others when it's deserved. A Bronco man likes to have fun and to burst people's bubbles from time to time. And also likes to celebrate. As opposed to many people on the Planet, I think that Berlusconi is a Hero and Saddam Hussein wasn't necessarily a Bad man. A Bronco Man goes against the Grain.

NB23, none of your sentences would reveal me more on your attitude of mind than “I think that Berlusconi is a hero". Actually I should have known that you like the guy.

This explain me anything. You could tell that before and save the time I've lost in this discussion. :D

OMG - I'm having a flashback. (Those who have never had acid called it De Ja Ve) LOL :)

Had a trip once - with a Viewfinder - the slides became a musical! :):) (And I was sure I saw Snow White snogging Grumpy, he was Happy after that)

Alice D. In Wonderland?

Well, I suppose in this world there are many meanest men than Saddam, but can't see the fact that he's no more of this world as a regret

I don't see why I'd regret anyone that I have never met personally. But why believe what cnn tells us, all the time?

Basically, what I regret is the fact that a Country Leader can't protect his country from a US Rape.

I am a free thinker.
