smartn Posted June 21, 2011 Share #1 Posted June 21, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just purchased a new R5 still in the box, with all the stickers and booklets, and you can tell it was never used. I purchased a motor winder R and I am having difficulties making work. First, the batteries in the camera and the motor winder are brand new. Second the camera is recognizing the motor winder and using its batteries to power the exposure system. When I turn on the exposure system by pressing the program button and then press the batery check, the LED light lights up strong. I follow the instructions by winding the shutter and leaving the lever out and attach the winder, then I let the advance lever go into the parked position and push the shutter release button on the winder and the shutter fires, then nothing. I have to wind the shutter again. If I don't wind the shutter and look through the view finder and partially press the shutter button, the exposure meter light up, but when I press it fully, the lights go out. I know the winder is good I bought it off a reparable compnay and its the second winder I have tried, the other winder was a R4. Any suggestions? cbretteville Posted June 22, 2011 Share #2 Posted June 22, 2011 Can't say for the R5, but on my R4 the motor winder triggers the shutter and the advance as you would expect. Hva you tried moving the handle on the underside of the unit to the two dot position? Not that it should make any difference, but it is a different setting of the electronics. smartn Posted June 23, 2011 Author Share #3 Posted June 23, 2011 Carl, The two dot position is for making double exposures, I have tried that and the winder beeps, as it should warning you it is set for a double exposure.
