Film processing

I just saw my statement from NCPS for processing, printing, and a mid range scan. It was about $ 31. Can anyone suggest a cheaper processor who does really good work. I have price lists from the Photo Place, Dwaynes, and Holland Photo which are about half the price. Are these very good? Has anyone tried Walmart, who sends their processing to Fuji. I tried a one hour shop in a neighboring town, but the prints came out muddy looking and the scan would not fully load onto my computer. I think I paid about $ 16 for this non-service. I guess I could forget the scans and save some money. It's kind of nice having the pictures on the computer though. Over the years I tend to misplace the prints and negatives.

Can't comment on US processors, but for C41 films I get them processed and scanned only, then re-scan/print the ones I want at home. The low res scans are fine for web use or making small prints up to 5X7 is fine.

I take it you don't have a scanner or printer?

Thanks, I don't have a scanner or film printer. The prints themselves from processors are only 29 cents apiece so I don't know if buying one is worthwhile.
