luigi bertolotti Posted September 3, 2011 Share #41 Posted September 3, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Is buying a 4-5 year old M8 still a viable choice?and are 7000 accuations a lot? Seems you are targeting MY M8... ... 4 years & 5 months, 7649 actuations... very viable, in fact I'm far by thinking to discard it (btw... kudos to Sandisk ultra 2 too ... the one I bought with the camera still keeps my 1st M8 picture and works fine - never reformatted for this reason - thousands of deletions/rewrite...the other 2 I have were used only for FW upgrades... )

Shade Posted September 9, 2011 Share #43 Posted September 9, 2011 Yes I think it is still a viable choice, where I live, looking for a preowned one isnt easy. Moreover I sold my m9 and came back down to the m8. I couldnt justify the hefty tag of the m9 for a personal use camera where the differences between the 8 and 9 are slight imho. Perhaps when m10 with a new sensor arrives - then I will consider getting one.
zipper Posted September 10, 2011 Share #44 Posted September 10, 2011 A used M8 has to be a bargain compared to an M9. Having seen the quality of M8 images I decided to spend the (big) price difference on glass, and this has worked out very well for me. From my experience though, next time I'd buy from an official Leica accredited dealer with a 'proper' guarantee.
