steinzeug Posted June 3, 2011 Share #1 Posted June 3, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, tried an beautiful M8.2 the other day, but just could not get the focusing to work. Used my own summicron-50 which I know is spot on. any ideas on how/why this camera could have been so far out?

jaapv Posted June 3, 2011 Share #3 Posted June 3, 2011 On what camera was the 50-lens' focus spot-on? I would have both camera and lens looked over by a reputable Leica repairperson, or by Leica.
steinzeug Posted June 3, 2011 Author Share #4 Posted June 3, 2011 The lens has recently been serviced and focus works perfectly on both an M6 and on a Sony nex. So it must be the M8.2 body, but never seen one this far off. Is it a rangefinder adjustment? Owner said he hadn't noticed using a 28mm (?!)
menos I M6 Posted June 3, 2011 Share #5 Posted June 3, 2011 Either the M6 and lens is off or the M8.2 is off. The Sony Nex means nothing, as you focus through the lens as these distances. Focus issues like this btw are no indicator of buying or not buying a certain camera body, but only of negotiating an appropriate price discount for a professional rangefinder adjustment. If the M8.2 otherwise would be in conditions, you would want to buy it, don't let this irritate you. Now after about 1 year of daily use, I found out a few days ago, that my M8.2 needs a readjusting, which interestingly coincides with the last fine readjusting, I have given the camera before leaving for a shooting last year ;-)

Yes, sure, but 1-2 months in solms is not really how any relationship should being

Yes, sure, but 1-2 months in solms is not really how any relationship should being No need for Solms - any well sorted Leica specialist can properly set a rangefinder. It is a 30min Job, while often can be done in 10min, when just infinity is off and no other things have to be touched. I always set it myself and make a major project out of it, checking against all my critical lenses at known targets - takes me usually a few hours of tweaking and rechecking.
