larry Posted February 6, 2007 Share #21 Â Posted February 6, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks everyone for your comments, it's taken me a few years to piece together some of the lose ends of my family's story. I was just a kid in the mid to late 1950s when most of this was recounted to me and I've had to dig deep to remember some of the details. Of course, it means considerably more to me now then it did then. Â One of the most profound things I was told was not to blame the Germans for what happened, but to remember that it was the Nazis who were responsible. A genuine distinction was drawn in regard to this point. My family was helped by many of the citizens of Budingen who resisted the Nazis -- some of whom also became tragically victimized in this mockery of civilization. What happened in Germany can happen anywhere if citizens become intellectually lazy and don't question the actions of their government. abrewer Posted February 6, 2007 Share #22 Â Posted February 6, 2007 Here's a link to the discussion we had in September re Leitz and Leica's involvement in this regard: Â Leitz and Leica in World War II Â It also ties back into the thread from the old forum where the Rabbi shared his manuscript with us. fastdap@mac.com Posted February 6, 2007 Share #25  Posted February 6, 2007 Yes, and this is a story that I never tire of hearing of Leitz and his clever resistance of evil. Rabbi Smith is a member of the Forum and has posted here in the past his full manuscript of his record of the events and times of Ernest Leitz. As is Mark de Paolo who is producing a movie about Leitz's efforts.  God bless the Rabbi, and Mark, for their work in bringing this story to light.  Thanks.  Allan Thanks Allan, yes Rabbi Smith has worked tirelessly for decades in compiling information to piece together the wonderful story of the Leitz Family efforts on behalf of Jews and other oppressed minorities during the darkest period of human history! We are in the second draft of the "HUSHED" script and getting closer to production. mark de paola

craigrmurray Posted February 6, 2007 Share #27  Posted February 6, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Craig, I moved and merged your thread into this one. Thanks.  Allan I appreciate it, Allan. I had seen the thread on the Customer Forum, and thought it too important not to re-post it on the digital forum, where most of the forum traffic is now.  Such a poignant story, too.
