Ecar Posted May 27, 2011 Share #21 Posted May 27, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) The only real drawback it's that you should care with your fingers! ... and the lens "cap" is not practical.
Advertisement Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 Hi Ecar, Take a look here New M mount 35mm lens.. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
neli Posted May 27, 2011 Share #22 Posted May 27, 2011 I'm not trying to shit on the lens or people who are interested, but.... The lens is tiny so make sure you check your hands after the fact... Anyways, a lens is like a brush to me, now that the variance of film is gone with digital sensors, and one with character is a welcome addition to my lineup, and a nice contrast to the holy grail of perfect IQ, whatever that may be. Point taken though, if zero distortion and perfect sharpness is what you are after then maybe this lens is not for you. I find it difficult to harken that someone cannot 'get this' lens. MarkP Posted May 27, 2011 Share #23 Posted May 27, 2011 OK! Now I am truly interested in the lens. Excellent work, too. Pico, Yes, there are some outstanding photographs on that site (repeated below) which is why I referred readers of this post to it. Although the photographer is obviously more important than the equipment, the lens is clearly capable of producing fine and interesting images. Hence my interest: tiny lens for those 'compact' times, good results, good references from other posters. ezc203 Posted May 28, 2011 Share #24 Posted May 28, 2011 Neli - I think you misinterpreted what I said (or did not read my full post) either way, I was merely suggesting that I cannot understand why people look at size as the MAIN reason to get a lens. I'm all for "lens character" in fact I have some pretty old and funky lenses that I quite enjoy, but a different in ~20mm should not be a huge selling point. Just the way I see it. Anasebi Posted May 28, 2011 Share #25 Posted May 28, 2011 To each his own, indeed. This made me smile: Substitute "German" for "Japanese" and it could be posted in a Leica discussion thread on one of the SonyCanicon forums:) Thats true, but Leica has a history of burning the bank for quality and Japan as a country as a history of companies coming out of left field demanding top tier prices just because. tdtaylor Posted June 3, 2011 Share #26 Posted June 3, 2011 Well, some may feel it is overpriced or just a novelty, but those that ordered just received an email stating that all 200 sold out in 48 hours, vs. 3 months for the first edition. Guess there is a market for overpriced and a novelty, although I am sure their are those that feel a fool is soon parted from their money
segedi Posted June 4, 2011 Share #27 Posted June 4, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I thought the email said that half of the run had sold out in 48 hours. And I'm on that list and hope to have it before a wedding at the end of the month to pair with some neopan 1600. In regards to size, I have a Summarit 35 that I really enjoy for it's size, weight and quality. But I do like the smaller size and character, from what I've seen, of this tiny triplet. When arguing the merits of a 20mm difference, would I have bought the lens if it was 20mm longer than the Summarit? No.
tdtaylor Posted June 4, 2011 Share #28 Posted June 4, 2011 I stand corrected- the email did say half the lenses were sold in 48 hours instead of three months.
MarkP Posted June 4, 2011 Share #29 Posted June 4, 2011 As per the email they expect to start shipping next week. (Note that when collapsed the lens only protrudes about 4mm from the lens mount) Mark
