Advertisement Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Hi sblitz, Take a look here NYC Subway Stop. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
pauledell Posted May 26, 2011 Share #2 Â Posted May 26, 2011 An excellent shot with great tones, light and sharpness. The composition is nice but I would suggest cropping out the left side of the the picture that has no detail but just black. Â Paul
richam Posted May 26, 2011 Share #3 Â Posted May 26, 2011 Excellent catch. Agree with Paul about the crop.
stuny Posted May 26, 2011 Share #4 Â Posted May 26, 2011 I largely agree, but with the crop I'd only remove about two inches.
sblitz Posted May 26, 2011 Author Share #5 Â Posted May 26, 2011 thanks to all for commenting. i actually think i cropped too much. the shot is made, imho, by the back of the man standing on the left (what you all suggest should be cropped) and the eye contact with the woman in the middle. i am not on my computer at home at the moment but will repost the photo with a different crop later. Â thanks again for your comments, they are always helpful. Â steve
stuny Posted May 26, 2011 Share #6 Â Posted May 26, 2011 I'll have to look at this again from home on a better monitor.
sblitz Posted May 26, 2011 Author Share #7 Â Posted May 26, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) the monitor makes a difference -- as does putting up on the web. i get the photo looking right on a calibrated monitor, swap it into srgb and up it goes into the forum and some of the nuances are gone. there is definitely an art to building a photo that will look right on line as opposed to in print. LuxBob Posted May 26, 2011 Share #8 Â Posted May 26, 2011 It's like a series of pictures within a picture. I like it the way it is.
sblitz Posted May 26, 2011 Author Share #9 Â Posted May 26, 2011 thanks for taking the time to comment, i very much appreciate your thoughts -- they are obviously close to mine given how i cropped the picture
