Thanks to the largesse of my wonderful wife, I received an M7 for our 19th anniversary yesterday!!! I have rejoined the world of film and am very excited. The M7 seems like a great companion to my M9. This is the 4th Leica I've owned in so many years, I started with a M6 which I sold to get an M8.2 which I sold after I stumbled on an M9 last summer!! Thanks to Dan Tamarkin I was able to get a very lightly used high serial # M7 with very little wear for a great price. I'm really looking forward to hitting the road in a few weeks and taking both bodies with me, we're heading to Germany to see my wife's family so there should be plenty of opportunities to shoot. My wife seems to tolerate this latest outgrowth of years of photography and of course 19 years married does help!

Here's a quick shot

Congratulations! Got mine some weeks ago and delighted with it.

Just as a comment, the only thing i find counterintuitive is that the little red dot is seen

when the camera is off. I would have made it the other way round.

Excellent camera, however.

Yes it is bizarre. I also use a Zeiss Ikon which has the red dot visible when switched on, rather confusing...

Hi Lawrence,

Congratulations! That is one great combo! Do you have experience in shooting both bodies side-by-side? Am wondering what your expereinces have been so far. Anything you, or anyone here, can share e.g. use the M7 for B&W or for specific framing type situations?

Cheers, Chris

I have two very low serial # M7s with a lot of wear. Perfect for taking pictures they are.

Enjoy your M7 and say hello to your wife from me.

Thanks to all,

Michael, sorry no twin!

K-H, we're headed to Bad Kreuznach, I love that place and it's surroundings

All, I haven't shot side by side yet, but expect to do so soon.

Cheers

Lawrence

I had a motor m on my M6 which was the first M camera that I had, I got it for nearly nothing so it was easy to have. In retrospect I liked the convenience, but not the bulk. So far I'm happy with the M7 without it.
