Caterman Posted May 20, 2011 Share #1 Posted May 20, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have tried a number of SD Cards different manufacturers sizes etc and even with my latest card a Lexar Professional 8GB 133x say a dozen or so shots in my M8 will only write 2mb of the DNG or less the file name is there but not the 10mb of a normal DNG The Jpeg of the corresponding DNG is saved OK I haven't tried DNG only partly for fear of not getting anything without the safety net of the Jpeg. I have never had this in all the other cameras I have own! Is the M8 that fussy with cards and is there a way to avoid it or is it something I'm doing wrong? Advertisement Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Hi Caterman, Take a look here DNG Not Written But Jpegs OK?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andybarton Posted May 20, 2011 Share #2 Posted May 20, 2011 Why not try some DNGs only, right here, right now? It won't cost you anything.
Caterman Posted May 20, 2011 Author Share #3 Posted May 20, 2011 Yep thats fine 30 shots all nice 10.6mb files. Tried turning camera off whilst writing files still OK only problem its not the way I really want to work I like having B&W jpegs but until I get an answer I'll have to forgo the convenience of the jpegs and the ability to review your shot in B&W! Caterman Posted May 20, 2011 Author Share #5 Posted May 20, 2011 It has the latest firmware installed but I will try to download and reinstall
jaapv Posted May 20, 2011 Share #6 Posted May 20, 2011 I assume you formatted the card in the camera? If so, you could try a reformat in the computer first and then format in the camera again.
Caterman Posted May 21, 2011 Author Share #7 Posted May 21, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Did the firmware re-install and that appears to have done the trick I will field test today. I have another brand new card that has only been formated in camera as the one I put the firmware on may have been affected when file written
Caterman Posted May 21, 2011 Author Share #8 Posted May 21, 2011 Thanks Andy, fingers crossed, the firmware re-install seems to have fixed it, no dropped dng's on todays photos:D
PBatemanJ Posted May 22, 2011 Share #9 Posted May 22, 2011 I have same problems on my M8 but it happens probably 1 out of several hundred shots so I have no clue what conditions cause the problem, and did not care much until recently I missed one file. I suspect SD card now from above suggestions, and was formatted on computer and again formatted on camera. I will see what happen next hundreds shots.
