mardag Posted May 25, 2011 Share #41 Posted May 25, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Mardag, great colore in your Matilda portraits. Just curious if are they due to the m9 or to special PP ? robert, thinking about an m9 Hi there, It´s some photoshop work. I do a great deal of PP on all of my images. The raw files of any camera is as it says "raw" No contrast curve applied. In most of my images I lift the shadows, mid and higlights. Then add a S-curve to that with quite strong bump in the shadows. Finally, Change opacity until satisfied. Colors from the M9 are very good compared to other systems in my opinion. Good luck! bentarrow Posted May 26, 2011 Share #42 Posted May 26, 2011 did you lose a lot of money? I am thinking about selling my 35L.......85L..yikes... and 70-200MKII..... 85L is such a special glass dunno if I will regret it... Just wanted everyone to know that I've made the decision and have sold off both primes and X100 already. Hopefully, I'll have enough funds by end of the week to get an M9! Anasebi Posted May 26, 2011 Share #43 Posted May 26, 2011 If you get a CV lens thats not adjusted right; send it back for a replacement. I have seven CV lenses, all five M mount ones are prefectly aligned to the RF on my M9(21mm f4, 28mmf2, 35mm f1.4, 40mm f1.4, 50mm F1.1). Heck even my Apo-Lanthar 90mm M39 is perfect. Usually its the RF in the camera itself that could have a misalignment, in that case its in Leicas ballpark as it will certainly have the same problems with their lenses. colinet Posted May 26, 2011 Share #44 Posted May 26, 2011 I bought an X1 last year and after using it for a very short time, I thought, 'I don't need all those zooms any more. This is just so elegant and wonderful.' Tomorrow I am picking up a new M9 and a 50mm 1.4 lens and next week I am putting all my Canon stuff - 5DMkII + 24-70 f2.8 + 70-200 f2.8 + 5xMacro + flashes etc etc on eBay to help pay towards it. I get I'd like to get a 24mm and a 75mm lens later too. Won't sell the X1 though because it is just too beautiful.

I am thinking about selling my 35L.......85L..yikes... and 70-200MKII..... 85L is such a special glass dunno if I will regret it... Actually, I was able to sell them for the same price I bought them for. Keep in mind I bought them during rebates though. If you can keep the 85L, keep it! I've lusted after that lens for so long but just couldn't justify it. If you get a CV lens thats not adjusted right; send it back for a replacement. Let me know how it turns out for you. My M9 is coming on Tuesday, can't wait!
vk2109 Posted May 27, 2011 Share #46 Posted May 27, 2011 did you lose a lot of money? I am thinking about selling my 35L.......85L..yikes... and 70-200MKII..... 85L is such a special glass dunno if I will regret it... I did the same...I sold my 35L and 85L ...didn't loose money actually sold for the same amount. yes it's a very special and sharp lens...but leica's lenses are really great. I only have the 50lux and when you hit the MF right on spot, it's more amazing than the 85L !!! the only thing I don't miss about 85L is the size and weight !! I would not sell the 70-200II right away...I kept my 70-200IS 2.8 Vadim
charles-k Posted May 27, 2011 Share #47 Posted May 27, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) This happened to me also, 12 months ago I started with 5DII/7D with 24LII, 50L, 85L and 80-200 f/2.8LIS. Frustrated with AF and MFA to get the focus spot on, I moved to MF with ZE lenses moving on a number of L series lenses for the Zeiss ZE 21/35/50/85 and 105. Beautiful lenses, but very heavy for travel. I still kept the 85L and 80-200f/2.8L for portraits. Next I sold the7D, and old camera gear and videos to fund the first second hand M9. Initially I hunted for any lens that was available whether CV's or ZM's initially for cost. After 6 months, not picking up the 5DII or lenses once, this made way for funding Leica lenses and eventually another second hand M9 body. My logic for travel, was that I needed a backup, and since I was not taking the 5DII, there was no point in keeping dead weight. I have not regretted this decision. Now for portraits, having the 50 Lux Asph, 75 Lux and 90 Cron AA, have far exceeded my expectations, and far outweigh the quirks with the 50L and the IQ of the 85L. I also acknowledge that for many working pro's having a DSLR is a necessity, and the M9 compliments rather competes. I feel a lot of non pros keep the DSLR, for the what if, myself included. For weddings having a DSLR I would think is a must, unless the skill level with the M9 and PP workflow is to a level that is very unique and sets it above others competing. bsaber Posted May 27, 2011 Author Share #48 Posted May 27, 2011 I've decided to keep the 70-200 to go along with the 5D2 and 17-40. I think they're going to go well together with the M9

Just a suggestion, but you might try selling on photography-on-the-net.com, the big Canon forum. I don't like the auction experience much and sold my 5DII gear there. It worked out very well. I'm an active member on there and have been able to sell a few items there with little problem.
