I had my M9 for three months when, after one shot, I had a shutter failure message on the screen. After consulting Leica and trying their recommendations it had to be sent back to NJ for repair. Recently it will stop shooting and act dead. Replacing the battery seems to get it going again. It has done this with twice with two newly and completely charged batteries.

- black frames every 50-200 shots from new (sent to Solms - no trouble found)

- horizontal rangefinder misalignment at infinity (adjusted in Solms)

6 months old, now 7,000 shots

no black frames (yet?) after latest FW upgrade (>200 shots since upgrade)

M9 shutter failed and had to be sent to NJ for repair 3 mo after purchase.

Shuts off occasionally while using and won't turn back on. Battery over 50% charged. I have to change battery to get going again.

I also had to send both of my new 8 and 8.2 to the factory for repair right after purchase. Disgusting

15 months and no apparent problems. about 3000 shutter actuations. no dust but maybe a small oil spot on sensor. haven't done anything about it yet.

leses: 28 cron asph, 50 lux asph, 135 telyt APO -- they all seem perfect so far

Almost two months now, so far minor hiccups:

- pressing the play button while cam is still writing results 50% of the times in a lockup where the shot is lost and cam can only be reset by removing battery

- shutter fires twice, althou not systematically reproduceable

- leathering of black M9 losens lower left corner of the monitor/base plate border

4 months.

2 VERY minor problems.

A.) Leatherette (grip) is peeling (from out of the box, really) to the bottom left of the LCD screen, near the "set" button.

B.) One time, but only once, the shutter button was "sticky" and my one photo turned out to be 7 or 8.

+ 16 months

just a little aggravated that a few older lenses understandably need calibration (am going to try on my own eventually - want collapsible Summi 50 with Sooky-M to be spot on)

Camera is 100%

Battery? eh...
