MEB Posted May 12, 2011 Share #1 Â Posted May 12, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I attended an outdoor memorial and something flew past me to a bush. I thought it was a hummingbird until I got a close look and saw that it was probably a moth. I had never seen anything like it. I Googled it and sure enough it is called a Hummingbird Moth. M9 with 75 Cron asph. LR3.3. Thanks for looking, Mark Blumer

pauledell Posted May 12, 2011 Share #2 Â Posted May 12, 2011 Mark, Â A great set. I like the first the most. I am no expert about insects, but I have never seen this species before either. Perhaps a new breed? Â Paul

MEB Posted May 13, 2011 Author Share #7 Â Posted May 13, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Paul, Al, Karl-Albert, K-H and Stu, Â Thank you for the kind words. It is a very strange insect and I was sure it was a Hummingbird until I got a close-up look. Luckily, I had my 75 Cron on the camera which focuses up significantly closer than my other lenses...even still these are close to 100% crops of the originals.
