lykaman Posted May 11, 2011 Share #2 Posted May 11, 2011 Sorry but that case just spoils the X1..........

lykaman Posted May 11, 2011 Share #4 Posted May 11, 2011 I’m a rather conservative guy...the case looks like it says -- Look at Me””.. Sir, as it is your choice I respect your decision.. I carry my X1 around in a 10year old video camera bag..The camera is naked except for the Leica Grip & Neck Strap..Heres to great Images...
symmetron Posted May 11, 2011 Author Share #5 Posted May 11, 2011 You know ironically I carry the camera around in a $15 optech stretchy camera case. I got the leather half case to protect the bottom and it has a built in grip. I don't care for the Leica grips. So the leather half case goes on the camera and then the camera goes into this optech case. Then I throw the whole thing in any messenger bag or whatever. I put this old Leica leather patch on the outside for the hell of it. Like this. Welcome, dear visitor! ezc203 Posted May 12, 2011 Share #6 Posted May 12, 2011 Kills the X1 in my opinion. Please don't be offended, it's just that few things are designed as beautifully as the Leica X1. Especially the black edition.
shinglj Posted May 18, 2011 Share #7 Posted May 18, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Have you considered gold plating the camera......or perhaps superglueing some semi precious stones around the lens ring? Both would set the case off nicely . shinglj
mhoutman Posted May 18, 2011 Share #8 Posted May 18, 2011 Have a look at the Artisan & Artist black X1 half case. I have the version with attached Leica grip. IMHO it is plain awesome and stealth
pharyngula Posted May 18, 2011 Share #9 Posted May 18, 2011 I'll second the A&A recommendation - I don't use a case with my X1 but do have an A&A for my MP along with a couple of straps. It is really good stuff and as mhoutman said, stealthy.
jsrockit Posted May 18, 2011 Share #10 Posted May 18, 2011 Why bother with a case anyway?
symmetron Posted May 19, 2011 Author Share #11 Posted May 19, 2011 I used half cases since 1985 on all my M-cameras and Minilux so the bodies didn't get smashed as I like to use the camera and not fondle it, but don't want to worry about placing camera down somewhere or hitting something. That's why. A dinged up Leica IMO is like a dirty car that someone doesn't take care of. I like to use my Leicas but just don't see the point in f*cking the camera up and never have in my travel to over 40 countries using Leicas. The X1 appears to be pretty fragile as far as Leicas go so I use the half case; plus it has a built in grip...don't care for the Leica grip. As far as the pattern on the case, it's OK. For $100, it was a good deal. When and if it falls apart, I'll replace it with another one maybe...but not a Leicatime or A&A...nice stuff but way overpriced. Rather spend the money on a good leather bag like a Tumi to carry the camera around.
