Black versus Silver X1

OK, as a candidate for a future owner of X1 I today stopped by in a local shop and quickly compared the both versions side by side.

The difference in the cover material was very obvious - the black had a leather (like?) material that had much better grip and feeling than the "plastic vulcanite" of the silver version.

However I did not notice any difference in the stiffness of the dials or a different "feeling" when popping op the flash or any rest of the controls.

In total the black X1 made much better impression - not only because it is black :) but mainly because of the leather cover. The silver color of the top and bottom plate and the dials looks way too much "plastic" like - a very good imitation indeed ;)

I had hard time not to leave the shop with the black X1. If there was no Ricoh GXR or Fuji X100 my life would be much easier.

Ive got to stand up for the Silver version ... i have seen both side by side as well and do agree that the black surround does look to be better finished ... however i went for the more classic appeal of the silver edition ... i guess its really down to if you prefer a modern or traditional looking camera ... truth be told i always use it "closeted" in a half-leather case , so it does not really matter .

I love the silver-one. Black is to black and looks to new...Everyting is black at this moment.

Ik like my combi with silver and leader...The grip with the Luicihalfcase is super!

silver looks much mire elegant then jjst black, the two tone color is very appealing, i would always choose silver over black, also the M silver models look much better then the black, black is kind of ordinary in my mind and its onlx one color not two tone, silver is kind of stylish
