They (the Clergy) will follow the bark of liberty only by the help of a tow-rope.

-- Thomas Jefferson, to Pierrepont, Edwards, July 1801

Seems to have snapped in the process. :)

Thanks for looking.

Rolo - Both a very amusing title AND a superb shot. I very much like the perspective distortion of the wide angle lens and the composition. Then, of course, there's your signature high contrast with full tonal range.

Bravo, maestro! The rope in the foreground (and is that a nest in its coils?) helps give a tremendous sense of perspective. As Stuart says, the whole carries your trademark signature.

To cap a pleasurable experience, by coincidence I have just finished reading a biography of Jefferson!

All the best,

Chris

Rolo:

Is that Mount St Michael in France?

Yes Rob.

I mentioned that I'd been there when you posted yours a couple of weeks ago.

When I arrived there was a massive queue for the carpark. I pulled over and tried to shoot from the river bank, but got nothing to my satisfaction.

Fortunately for me, I was on a motrcycle and did a quick turnabout, travelled upstream a couple of miles and found a bridge to cross.

Better position IMO.

When I was there with my wife, we went out on the roads, found the roads to the top of the dykes and just drove the dykes until I found what I needed. I don't think they expected tourist up on the dykes, but it gave me that nice shot with the shephard. We tend to travel in the ealy spring or fall so there is never much for tourist traffic like you had.

I have also seen some Mount St Michael shots, but od a Mount St Michael in the UK.

Yes, St Michael's Mount in the south of England and Mont St Michel in France.

The French one is far more dramatic.
