I have an M9 and would love to purchase a Viso 3 and Telyt. Any suggestions on the best place to find one. Your response would be greatly appreciated. Advertisement Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Hi Alexander Charles, Take a look here Telyt 560/Televit. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
luigi bertolotti Posted June 24, 2011 Share #22 Posted June 24, 2011 The Visoflex III is not a problem... you can rather easily find one on ebay or at various international specialized dealers (example : https://www.leicashop.com/vintage/leica-zubehoer-visoflex-iii-c-1000_1012_101214.html, or Newoldcamera - Scheda prodotto, or MEISTER CAMERA Hamburg: Second Hand : Second Hand[catUid]=29&cHash=8a1ffafe77 ) The telyt 560 - V (for Visoflex) seems on the contrary rather scarce... I quickly found some telyt 560 R (for Reflex) but they cannot be easily converted for Visoflex usage (the inverse, on the contrary, is very simple, with a std. ring). "Chase with patience" is the only advice...
tobey bilek Posted June 24, 2011 Share #23 Posted June 24, 2011 You need to locate one with the M tube rather than R tube or a separate M tube. The front optics are the same. Just that the M model has a shorter tube for mounting on viso. The M were rather scarce even when new.

I have an M9 and would love to purchase a Viso 3 and Telyt. Any suggestions on the best place to find one. Your response would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Alex Hello Alex, I am also a late-joiner (had problems with posting before). It depends WHAT Telyt 560 you want: - the Telyt 560/5,6 for Televit (pictured in the post #1), or - the sliding focus Telyt 560/6,8 (pictured in posts #14, 15, 18) ? The Telyt 560/5,6 for Televit normally is more expensive, and exists in Visoflex- and R-Versions (the R-version cannot be focused to infinity with the Visoflex and M). Two complete Televit-sets for Visoflex can be bought from "Collect Camera" (where I bought one of my sliding focus Telyts which was delivered in very nice condition). The sliding focus Telyts (aperture 6,8) are more easily to get, however the 560 mm head is rarer than the 400 mm head (the heads share the same tube which again exists in V- and R-versions, as you probably know). At the moment, I am not aware of a good offer for the Telyt560/6,8, but the 400/6,8 is quite easy to get. I can recommend to call 'Meister Camera' (Hamburg and Berlin, and the new 'Leica Store' in Munich) and 'Leicashop'/Westlicht in Vienna. By the way, should this be your first Telyt of the telescope type (2 glued lenses at the front end of a really long tube), I would strongly recommend to start with the much easier to handle and lighter, but still very impressive, sliding focus Telyt 400/6,8 ! The 400 mm versions (even the one for Televit) can be stabilized with the respective shoulder stocks, a monopod or tripod can be regarded as optionally (yes, I know, one always gets better results with a stable support. If you get them...). The 'non-tethered' handling (just with the delivered shoulder stocks) of the 400 mm Telyts is much more 'reactive' and a serious option worth trying! Therefore, I would always only buy sets which include the (correct) shoulder stock. On the contrary, the 560 mm versions, to my experience, are much more difficult to focus and so heavy and long that at least a monopod is obligatory. Hope that I did not tell you too much what you already knew. Regards, Telyt2003
pgk Posted June 29, 2011 Share #25 Posted June 29, 2011 I notice that the Croydon Camera Centre (whom I have bought from once or twice) are showing a 400 with M & R mounts (Croydon Photo Centre).
luigi bertolotti Posted June 29, 2011 Share #26 Posted June 29, 2011 Interesting... is complete with the shoulder stock... pity they don't publish pictures... I think that M+R means that it's like mine : Visoflex II/III mount with R adapter ring.

Twotone Posted June 30, 2011 Share #30 Posted June 30, 2011 and lots are in that side Peter Loy is a much more realistically priced website IMO. Peter Loy - Collectable Camera Specialists Some nice Telyt stuff below from the guy below who I can vouch for having bought two very nice lenses from recently. http://www.collectcamera.com/products/rubriek_list.php?ocat_ID=2&lang=eng

(surely difficult to find alone... ) Some more Visoflex stuff here Luigi. BTW have a look through the products page there are some really interesting things in the various pages. There is beautiful combi case for an M3/4 and he has some really nice cameras too. Also, if you are looking for something in particular then drop him a line as he'll likely to have what your looking for. I asked him if he had an M3 ERC a few months back and he did (a brand new old stock one but it was180 euros) but it wasn't on his website. http://www.collectcamera.com/products/rubriek_list.php?ocat_ID=7&lang=eng Tony

Telyt2003 Posted June 30, 2011 Share #34 Posted June 30, 2011 I hope Alexander will se the above post : Collectcamera has some very interesting Telyts... and I regret not to have that fine leather case for my 400 6,8... (surely difficult to find alone... ) Hi Luigi, what about buying the complete set? (as I already did at Collect Camera. Please see my above post #24 where I also recommend the same two very complete Televit sets for Visoflex ). The Telyt 400/6,8 offered by Theo de Wit at Collect Camera (I only know him as a customer who bought a very similar set) is an early (1968) version : This early version has a different tripod socket and a different shoulder stock (actually the SAME shoulder stock as that for the early version of the Televit!). This early version of the Telyt 400/6,8 can already be taken apart (it is no proto-type), but has still no filter slot, and has a dented sliding focus mechanism (later it was undented). Also, (probably only) this early version was delivered with the really nice leather case which I always carry with me when using this lens, and to which the shoulder stock attaches externally via a smart leather string (the later case was a black soft leather case). I can really recommend this early version for photographic practice, because it is even lighter than the common (later) version of the Telyt 400/6,8, even when the latter is fitted with the first version of the shoulder stock 14188. The Televit-type shoulder stock of the early version of the Telyt 400/6,8, to my experience, is the most efficient in stabilizing this lens (However, it does not offer the 'pistol grip' and the anchor for the a cable release as does the second type of 14188). Telyt2003 Posted June 30, 2011 Share #35 Posted June 30, 2011 Here is an example photo made with this marvellous lens - the early Telyt 400/6,8 (tiger in a zoo): Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! Telyt 400/6,8 (first version, 1968) with early-Televit-type shoulder stock, no S7 filter slot (instead an S8 IR-cut filter was used via adapter), Visoflex 2 (with finder of Visoflex 3), M8, strap 14130. ISO1250, 1/350 s, f/6,8 (or f/8), slightly cropped. As already said: Any Telyt 400/6,8 is strongly recommended. Much more 'reactive' in spontaneous photography than any version of the 560/600 mm lenses which need steady support much more, and therefore a more anticipating way to photograph. With a tripod, I would have been lost in this situation; where were only 3-4 seconds between seeing what was to come (the tiger yawning) and the raising, fine-focusing and releasing of the camera.
