ui29bk Posted April 26, 2011 Share #1 Posted April 26, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi everyone I recently got a 200mm Telyt with M39/Visoflex Mount (http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-wiki.en/index.php/F_%3D_20_cm_1:4_Telyt) that lacked a front-cap. Could one of the experts tell me what the product-code for the font-lens cap is? Is it probably type "70A"? (see attached image below) Best regards Welcome, dear visitor! luigi bertolotti Posted April 26, 2011 Share #2 Posted April 26, 2011 The product code was 14044, not impossible to find
ui29bk Posted April 27, 2011 Author Share #3 Posted April 27, 2011 Thanks Luigi for your answer. Do you know (or could you just check w/ you lens in case you own one) whether the S/N is printed/ embossed somwhere on the cap? If not: Is there any other way I can distinguish this particular cap from other, maybe similar ones? And my last question: Is this also the cap used for the Telyt 280mm f4.8? (both lenses have the same filter diameter of 58mm)
luigi bertolotti Posted April 27, 2011 Share #4 Posted April 27, 2011 I just checked my 200 f4 : the cap has nowhere the code, neither engraved not painted : no strange, it was a std. equipment of the lens when sold, the pricelist of the time specified that 14044 was the code for the SPARE cap. It's very similar to the cap for Telyt 280, but not identical... see this splendid video capture... Welcome, dear visitor! And not interchangable with it... the 280 cap (14079 - spare) is just a bit wider (3 mm) - doesn't stay on the 200 (both have a felt stripe in the inner diameter)
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! jc_braconi Posted April 27, 2011 Share #5 Posted April 27, 2011 surely this will not help but I can tell that there are 3 kinds of them, only by weight/width of metal used i.e the very first 1959 are really heavy and thick the last are half the weight of the first one. good luck !!! ui29bk Posted April 28, 2011 Author Share #6 Posted April 28, 2011 Cheers guys. I'll do my best to find a proper cap. So far I like the lens a lot. For a 200mm lens it is quite small and handy.
George Furst Posted December 13, 2013 Share #7 Posted December 13, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Not only is this lens small and handy but also it had good optics and is beautifully made. The lens head is removble and many do not know this. Maybe there is a adapter to fit it on a bellows for macro work. As for the cap, it is very well made and solid. It was a time when Wetzler took caps seriously.
