k-hawinkler Posted May 4, 2011 Share #7  Posted May 4, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Yes - I used a set of Kenko extension tubes on the 400 mm Telyt - inorder to get close enough :-)) All the best - Svenning, Denmark   Hi Svenning,  Very interesting.  There also is the Leitz extension tube 14182 for the Telyt 400/6.8 or 560/6.8 of course. However, the 14182 extension tube cannot be used on the Telyt 400/5.6  But, you have just given me an idea. Some time ago I got for my Nikons the 12, 20, and 36mm Kenko extension tubes. I can use a Nikon-LM adapter to attach the Kenko extension tubes to the Visoflex III and a Leica M-AI adapter to attach to the 400/5.6 or 6.8. Just tried it out. Works like a charm. Why didn't I think of that before? Many thanks.  Best, K-H.
svenning Posted May 5, 2011 Author Share #8 Â Posted May 5, 2011 Dear k-hawinkler, Â This is a picture of how close I was with a 12mm + 36mm extension tube on the Leitz 400 mm telyt - f/6.8. Â My wife took the picture of me and felt a little embarresed about it - as I was standing on a public street :-)) Â I hope you get good results with your experiment? Guest stanjan0 Posted May 5, 2011 Share #9 Â Posted May 5, 2011 What camera was the Telyt attached to? Can that lens be used with the Leica new M 9 I really would like to get a telephoto lens for my M 9. Right now all I have for long shots is a 135mm lens. Stan  The Leitz 400 mm Telyt was adapted to a Canon EOS 5D MkII camera. I think it must be possible to use Leica-R lenses on the Leica M9 rangefinder camera? Maybe some of the more experienced Leica Forum Members can answer that question?  I made a Google search and found one Leica-r to Leica-M adapter: Leica R Lens to Leica M adapter  All the best - Svenning, Denmark
k-hawinkler Posted May 6, 2011 Share #11 Â Posted May 6, 2011 Hi stanjan0, svenning, Â If you want to focus to infinity then you need a Telyt-V, V for Visoflex. There are 200, 280, 400, and 560mm Telyts out there that work on the M9 via Visoflex III. With an appropriate adapter then these lenses also will work on Canons and Nikons and other cameras. Telyt-R work with an adapter on Canons. For Nikons you need to replace the lens mount, AFAIK. Â Here is an image taken with M9 + Visoflex III + Extension Rings + Telyt 400mm f/5.6, shot wide open: Â Best, K-H.

Stan  Yes there exist Telyt lenses which can be attached to the M9 via a Visoflex. But make sure to get the right version of the Telyt, it must be either a Telyt - V or an elder version with M39 screw mount an an adaptor 16466 . Tely-R will not work on the M9.
