Hey guys,

I was in my local camera district shopping around and I ran across a M8 "Historica" edition. Well at least it had the M6 Historica edition

Leica

Historia

1975-1995

engraved on the top plate. I'm sorry I didn't take a picture of it but it caught my eye cause I had never seen one before.

Probably just engraved?

I went back today and took a picture of the M8. It appears that someone had probably painted the "Historica" information on it. The paint of the "M" of the M8 is also smudged. here is the serial info 3109874. the strange thing is that the paint of the Historica information had a mixed two tone color to it. it almost looked like a pearl inlay...

what do you think?

I think it's a rather stupid writing added by someone, maybe for joking... even if there exists some "Leica Historica" association, which celebrated its 20 years in 1995.. don't see the reason to paint this on a camera of 2007, mixing it with the oldstyle Leitz Wetzlar writings, which are unrelated to M8 & Leica Camera co.... bleah...

I someway doubt is related to Leica Historica LEICA HISTORICA e.V., indeed founded in 1975...
