yutkini Posted April 10, 2011 Share #1 Posted April 10, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello. I've bought a d-lux 5 a few month ago, and just have noticed, that from the beginning every picture that was uploaded on the computer had 1/8 th of the picture on it's left side lighter than the rest of it. as i noticed that it became very annoying. BTW, the difference cannot be seing on the lcd screen. is there anything to be done, and what is the problem? here is an example

Nicoleica Posted April 10, 2011 Share #2 Posted April 10, 2011 Maybe my eyesight is worse than I thought, but I've just looked at the picture above on two different monitors, and I can't see the problem that you are describing.

ho_co Posted April 11, 2011 Share #5 Posted April 11, 2011 yutkin, welcome to the forum! Do you see the difference on your monitor in the swan shot? I don't see any difference here. Is it perhaps a problem with your monitor, or with the way it catches reflections? Can you try it on another computer to verify the difference? How much difference is there? Just a little, or quite a bit? You say it's always 1/8th of the image width, right? So if you enlarge the image, you can scroll the lighter part off the screen to the left, right? Sorry to ask such straight, basic questions, but I'm trying to figure out what you're seeing that I'm not. I tried reading the RGB levels of the water all across and found minimal differences. I've used Photoshop to posterize your file to 5 levels, and I see nothing like what you're describing.

macjim Posted April 11, 2011 Share #7 Posted April 11, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) How do you hold the camera, and what do you do with the lens cover? Could be your slightly covering the lens with a finger — I don't have any issues with my D-Lux 5. If your holding it OK, then it sounds like your monitor is to blame, try using a friends computer and see if the problem is replicated. Hope you can resolve this

Boy, this hobby is expensive, isn't it? Every upgrade of equipment leads to another upgrade of equipment, etc, etc. And thanks for letting us know! farnz Posted April 11, 2011 Share #9 Posted April 11, 2011 That's awqward, the problem is with the monitor, thank god and this forum, that leica is ok:rolleyes: To fix this problem, cover the offending end of your monitor with masking tape and the problem will disappear. (I'm joking!) Welcome to the forum. Pete.

Pete, you may be joking, but it's a very practical and engineering-think kind of suggestion!
