dpsaromialos Posted April 7, 2011 Share #1 Posted April 7, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Dear forumers, I' m a newbie and I need your help, as most of you are experts here. Before a week bought a Leica Dlux5 and while I'm trying get some shoots I have noticed some reddish unexplained areas inside my photos!!!! I had a total of 45 photos an only 6 or 7 of them had this problem. Keep in mind that my camera was in Aperture mode and during the night I never had the problem. So, I wonder if this is a camera's problem or is just me who don't know yet how to set up my camera. Please help!!!! Below I have 3 pixs with the problem

earleygallery Posted April 7, 2011 Share #2 Posted April 7, 2011 Looks like flare to me, and in the first two shots I see that the sunlight was in the same direction, not sure about the last image - have you tried a shot of just a white wall to see if anything shows up then? I don't think you can get a lens hood for the Dlux, but just shield it with one of your hands a little when shooting towards the light like that. ho_co Posted April 7, 2011 Share #3 Posted April 7, 2011 dp-- Welcome to the forum! I agree with James. The first two definitely look as if some sunlight reached the front of the lens. The mountain shot is a bit trickier, but I don't have any suggestion other than flare. There is a way to mount a lens hood on the camera, but it defeats the portability of the camera, so James' idea of shielding the front of the lens when necessary is my preference. To add a hood or filter or wide-angle attachment, you'll need a Panasonic DMW-LA6. That's a tube that screws onto the camera in place of a cosmetic ring and has a standard 52mm front thread. (US link DMW-LA6 - Lenses.) Once you've got that, you can use any 52mm screw-in hood.
