Sharing a Rock at the Lake

Bill, Stuart, Paul, Albert...Many thanks! Albert, no secrets at all. I was messing around with an old lens (135 Elmar f:4) I rarely use. I approached slowly, and shot a maybe 5 frames, getting closer each frame. This one is very lightly cropped. Auto exposure. I think it helps that they are likely accustomed to humans, as there are often fisherman on the shores of this lake. After this frame, the brown one went for a swim. I must have been a bit too close.

What is worth noting as well is that this beautiful image renders justice to the female (the brown one) whose plumage colours are generally kind of dull and make her pale when she is next to her mate.

Thank you Larry!
