Advertisement Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 Hi Guest imported_jtorral, Take a look here Grand canyon DMR PSed to B&W. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lambroving Posted July 13, 2006 Share #2 Posted July 13, 2006 Jorge, B&W is fine, but please post the color version of this one too at this resolution. I remember it well and thought it very good at showing all the various shades in those cliffs which most shots of the Grand Canyon fail to convey. You were very lucky with the light on this one. stuny Posted July 13, 2006 Share #5 Posted July 13, 2006 Jorge - Didn't you post another color one shot just after dawn? That one was the color wonder. For this pair I far prefer the B&W with its lush tones.
dhsimmonds Posted July 17, 2006 Share #6 Posted July 17, 2006 Jorge I'm with the monochrome version too. Absolutely tremendous range of tones and as William has already commented wonderful light. Cheers, Dave
Guest flatfour Posted July 17, 2006 Share #7 Posted July 17, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Both versions are excellent. I think there is more atmosphere in the B&W
andybarton Posted July 17, 2006 Share #8 Posted July 17, 2006 Both of these are one hellava picture. I have to say, my Mastercard is tempted...
Conforto Posted July 18, 2006 Share #9 Posted July 18, 2006 Like Peter, I prefer the colour one. The Grand Canyon is one place that I'll definitely visit in my life. This picture is absolutely breathtaking. Great shot. Regards
ddh Posted July 18, 2006 Share #10 Posted July 18, 2006 Grean b/w, Ansel. Color not to bad either. Thanks for showing.
mhanke Posted July 18, 2006 Share #11 Posted July 18, 2006 Both versions, but the b/w more than the colour, suffer from the problem that they lack depth, they appear two dimensional. In the b/w version, the left formation of rocks blends into the background, in spite of being the one closest. In the colour version, the formation and the cliff on the right compete for the privilege of being the closest; optically at least, nearly has an M.C. Escher-esque perspective. In all, I think the framing is not perfect. The b/w picture has a more dramatic appearance, especially the sky, but does not disclose that there is a river at the bottom, which can only be recognized in the colour pic.
