Zorki 4 was my first RF camera, in 1975... had a std. 50mm f2 Helios, then I added a 135 f4 and also a 85 mm f2. I sold all of these years and years ago, but I have good enlargements of the time I used the gear: the Zorki gave the impression to be approssimative in mechanical details, but de facto never broke (but I was not a big numbers shooter). dougdarter Posted September 16, 2007 Share #44 Posted September 16, 2007 Can't do the Zorki thing, but took this at 8.30am yesterday morning with the Fed2+Jupiter 12.Agfa APX100 in Rodinal Special 6mins @1+29 at 20deg C. Hi, I'm pretty new here, which is why I am trolling through the older threads. I came across this photograph. Frankly, to me, it's unimportant which camera was used to make this picture, the fact is, it's utterly compelling, and very, very beautiful. It reminds me of the work of Frank Sutcliffe. I hadn't seen the Belle Island shot before its really beautiful, I'm nowhere near that standard......yet, although I'll will keep trying! The Water Rats is from an age of innocence which thanks to modern media we have sadly lost, Queen Victoria had a copy of this picture, and she was often "not amused" but not on this occasion it seems. dougdarter Posted September 19, 2007 Share #50 Posted September 19, 2007 I have a Leica II and a IId, and they are superb cameras. I will also come out of the closet, and admit to having a FED 2, and a 4. They are nothing like Leica in terms of build quality, but they DO handle very similarly, and I have to say, that the image quality (using Leica glass), is quite astonishing for such a cheap camera. The FSU glass is also capable of rendering sharp, well saturated pictures. I just think they are fabulous value for money, Especially the FED 4 when you consider it has an onboard meter, and can be purchased for around £30 new. I thought once of buying a CV Bessar, but quite honestly, felt that it was really a waste of money considering what the FED 4 could achieve using Leica glass.
