I do not see the ISO :-(

Funny - on full auto I see the auto ISO at top left of screen. But when I set the shutter and aperture to specific values, I see ISO 100 exclusively. Which begs the question what settings you are using, and what your menu settings are for ISO (auto?)

Hi dunk,

take a look at the finder in your Mac.

1. Is the downloaded file (in the downloads-folder) still ending with .zip? Then you have to unzip it. Do you use the Mac App Store? Search for ZIP in the store. There are many tools like the stuffit expander, which handle zip-files and more.

2. If it´s already named X1-V20.upd - there´s nothing to open. This file should be copied to the x1-card in the finder.

I hope, that helps...

I downloaded the file and saved it to the reformatted SD card in my camera ... using my PC ... not by using my iMac. Then I closed the dialogue box and turned off the camera and disconnected the USB cable. Then I switched the camera on whilst pressing the INFO button. Now I am supposed to confirm that I wish to update to version 2.0 ... but there is no prompt to do this when I switched the camera on whilst pressing the INFO button. How do I confirm I want to do the update? Should the confirm option come up automatically or do I have to access it? I have tried several times ... and have checked the firmware on the menu and it still says version 1.0 .

Very frustrating.

Just finished installing it. Fast and Easy.

The AF is not much different. (They said it will be better in low light or low contrast situation)

But MF is improved a lot. Distance scale, DOF scale, and speed sensitive wheel. WOW Great the MF never be easier. (MF distance also remains event after turn off camera)

AF Lock, Auto ISO also show up before shooting is a plus.

FW 2.0 didn't bring a lot of different to many people. But for me I'm still love my X1V2 as always with V1.

you can afford to buy a leica so you are on a different emotional plane than those that can't or buy pan-leicas. okay. you win, you aren't like anyone else.

My emotional plane does take wing when I use the X1, and that's my one concession to myself since I can't afford a Rolex, a Rolls, or a yacht. I think someone once said "If you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with."

The firmware fixes seem very well thought out and moreover, are best categorized as the kinds of tweaks and improvements that a photographer would appreciate (especially if you come from the M world). I've been playing around some more with the new manual focus controls/displays. I'm really very pleased and applaud Leica for this upgrade. I'm not upset about the time it took for the upgrade but then again, I've only had the camera for about 3 months.:D

You have to make sure that you already UNZIP the file and put the FW "X1-V20.upd" on root directory of memory card. Then pressing INFO button and hold it before you turn camera on. It'll be there. :D

As you seem to be the only one having this kind of problem you should reconsider your procedure. Read the installing instructions carefully. A lot of people here already took the time and tried to help you and you are not even posting one single answer to their questions. For example it is still unanswered weather you unzipped the file before copying it to your SD-card. Did you do that? What is the suffix of the file on the SD-card?

I find you a bit frustrating.

This seems odd. Here is what I would do. Connect the camera to the computer, then in Windows Explorer locate the camera (the SD card actually) as drive d:, e:, f: (whatever it turns out to be), open that drive and delete ALL files and folders, then copy the .UPD file only to the camera card. Then using the task bar, use the Safely Remove Hardware button to disconnect the camera. Then remove the cable and turn the camera off. Then, first push and hold the INFO button, and while holding the button, turn the camera on and keep holding the button for another second or two and then let go.

I'm very happy with it!

The first time I turned on the X1 after the update power on seemed faster.

The manual focus is now pleasantly usable.

Exposure lock works great.

The AF is faster for sure- I'd say as much as 25% faster in low light, 10% at it's least noticeable. The mechanical focus gnomes inside even sound like they are working harder :p One of the first objects I focused on was in low light and it totally surprised me. I was so used to the elongated low light focus speed that when it locked I had to hit the info button to see it on the screen (I have aOVF) to make sure it wasn't a mistake. But it wasn't :)

It will be interesting to try it out in real low-light situations to see if it no longer misses.

They made a nice instruction guide and PDF for the update even. And the install itself was totally flawless.

First class all the way.

With their unrequested tightening of my dials during my top plate repair, I now am left with nothing to complain about. Guess I should go enjoy my *new* camera :D The X1 is a first class solid performer. This firmware update made it even more so.

I hope we can have a nice thread here, at least for a while, before the trolls and L bashers awake and start slamming it compared to that *other* camera (many without ever having shot with either). I'm sure they will search long and hard for a negative review of this update so they can continue their favorite sport...

But I won't be around to read it since I'll be out taking pictures. :D

Hi Dunk,

Make sure you unzip the downloaded file first.

LCD Off - 30s, 1 min ..... more than minute? :-( NOT

After turning the camera, unlocks the MF :-(

I do not see the ISO :-(

MF remains locked after you add a profile :-(

Wow. You are one unlucky guy. Maybe explaining your problems in full sentences would relief you?

Tried the FW briefly. Since I mostly use AF (if not always) the MF isnt that relevant for me, but having toyed with it I think the implementation is superb given the 2 speeds of focusing, a fast turn of the wheel is for rough focus and a slow turn precise focus. Neat. I can see how that will help tremendously. I will try some ZF though foer the kick of it soon.

AF speed in low light is noticeably faster. AF in normal light the same, and since the AF of the X1 has always worked well in normal to bright light there is really nothing to fix.

There is absolutely no hunting now in dim light, the camera achieves sharp focus quickly and accurately.:)

A very well executed FW update.
