wda Posted April 5, 2011 Share #781  Posted April 5, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have just been writing a short review of this important upgrade, for the Leica Fellowship newsletter and tried to explore the following new feature extracted from the Leica instructions:  "Other functions The AUTO POWER OFF menu item (see instr., p. 92) now includes a 1 Min. setting option. The additional setting option allows power management to be fine-tuned to the prevailing operating conditions and thus to make better use of the battery’s capacity."  I looked in vain for the procedure to 'fine-tune' battery power management; but I have concluded that it must happen automatically, in camera, without user input. Unless a forum member has discovered how to do it?
Advertisement Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Hi wda, Take a look here X1 Firmware v2 Upgrade [Merged thread]. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
brill64 Posted April 5, 2011 Share #782 Â Posted April 5, 2011 i've found my two fully charged x1 batteries discharge much faster than previously. i use minimum powersave settings, minimum screen brightness and viewfinder on mode. i rarely chimp. anyone else noticed this? i've also found that if the manual focus setting is not locked, i cannot turn off the screen, even in autofocus and viewfinder mode. my workaround is to lock the manual focus setting. is this just me? i'm not very scientific. i'm pretty happy with everything else though.. mjh Posted April 5, 2011 Share #783  Posted April 5, 2011 I looked in vain for the procedure to 'fine-tune' battery power management; but I have concluded that it must happen automatically, in camera, without user input. Unless a forum member has discovered how to do it? Simply by selecting the desired power-off time. The 1 minute setting gives you an additional option; that’s all the fine-tuning there is. mjh Posted April 8, 2011 Share #784  Posted April 8, 2011 Now worked out it's the lens opening and closing by it's self ! You mean the aperture blades? That’s normal behaviour.
mjh Posted April 8, 2011 Share #785 Â Posted April 8, 2011 All compact cameras do this; I suppose the X1 is a bit louder than most since the aperture blades are bigger.
h00ligan Posted April 9, 2011 Share #786 Â Posted April 9, 2011 Did the min focal distance get shorter? I thought I read it was meant to.

( Per pdf clarification Do not hold info button down...release as soon as the power is on. It took me 2 hours to stumble on this. Firmware V2.0 x1 update works well. Don't over read or think the instructions.
