leicanut2 Posted March 26, 2011 Share #1 Â Posted March 26, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Anyone have any idea of the life expectancy of the built in flash on the D-lux cameras? I have the D-Lux 5. Â Cheers
Advertisement Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 Hi leicanut2, Take a look here Built in flash on the D-lux cameras. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
macjim Posted March 26, 2011 Share #2 Â Posted March 26, 2011 Long enough for our use. Why? Â Â Cheers, Macjim.
leicanut2 Posted March 26, 2011 Author Share #3 Â Posted March 26, 2011 I have the CF22 but hardly ever use it. As for the in camera flash I am well over 2,000 flash shots and just wanted to get an idea of when it will crap out. If a DLux 6 comes out or a X2 with a small zoom lens than it will not make a difference because I will sell the DL-5 and trade up. Â Jan
macjim Posted March 26, 2011 Share #4  Posted March 26, 2011 Well, it could break next week or it could outlast your, and my use, and still be fine for whom ever buys it from you. To give you an example — my first DSLR, a Nikon D50, worked fine for me with occasional use during the two or three years I had it, but after I gave it to a mate he found the flash wad u/s and it turned out to be a problem with all D50's! Because it flipped up, the mechanism failed, probably a worn contact. The flash itself was probably OK — just a mechanical glitch. So, don't worry about it as you can always sell it 'as seen' or give it to a friend to enjoy! PS it's a great wee camera and as the flash is concealed inside it shouldn't suffer damage — I rarely use the flash myself as I prefer to use the available light.  Cheers, Macjim. Digitom Posted March 26, 2011 Share #5 Â Posted March 26, 2011 If I would use a flash often I would prefer an external flash because the built in is too much limited. I do not use it often but I never had any problems with a built in flash in any of my former cameras (Leica of non Leica).
