Advertisement Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Hi andybarton, Take a look here Non-Leica-Photos. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Guest Randle P. McMurphy Posted September 6, 2011 Share #22 Posted September 6, 2011 Despite this, my opinion is, that in this forum only photographs with Leicas should be shown. Otherwise it would lose its specific character and be just a forum like many others. I think the most difference between this forum and others is that this equipment here is al little more expensive. But talk about pictures and not the gear. Belive me no one can see if a photo was taken with a 50mm Summicron or a 50mm Nikkor or other brand. So if no one can verify this for sure - what sens makes such rules ? And what about pictures who are make with Voigtländer or Zeiss optics - were is the "specific charakter" there ? Hmm - just searching.......
HeinzX Posted September 7, 2011 Share #23 Posted September 7, 2011 Hello, the specific charakter is, that most of the pictures are taken with focus length of 18mm up to 90 mm. It makes no sense to show pictures there made with strong tele lenses or real macro lenses, which are not possible to take with the Leica system. Imho this forum should show pictures which can be taken with the Leica system . I am not just a Leica fan boy, in more tha 40 years of photographing I used a lot of systems,i.e. Nikons, Canons, Rolleiflex, Leica a.o. and I am using still a Canon 1 D IV plus a lot of lenses an for some occasions a Panasonic FT 3. But I see rally no sense to have in this forum pics taken with a focal length of 400 mm or with a extreme macro lens. If there is no restriction to Leica equipment, you will find in short time a lot of these pictures there. On the other hand, there are a lot of forums which have nothing to do with any brands, and there is opportunity enough to show pictures, which can be taken with any equipment. That is at least my point of view, some may have an other one, but I am very sure many have the same.

HeinzX Posted September 7, 2011 Share #25 Posted September 7, 2011 How many pictures are in this forum nowadays, which are made with the R system and how many with the M system ? And how many owners of a R System are in favour for showing other than Leica pics ? But at the end - decision is made by the owner of the forum, not by the participants. But if the owner of the forum has no preference and would like to know what the majority of participants would prefer, there could be a vote - but only by owners of any Leica camera. (Could be checked by registration of at least one camera). In my opinion this would be fair. And then - majority rules, if the owner does really want that. Other possibility of course would be - again if the present owner does want it and Leica is prepared to, a retransfer in the ownership to Leica. In this case the decision would be made by the new owner. No doubt, what the decision would be in this case.
