k-hawinkler Posted March 11, 2011 Share #1 Posted March 11, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I got a Telyt 280/4.8 v3 that had quite a bit of haze on 3 lens surfaces and is documented http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/1592228-post114.html, http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/1592648-post89.html, http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/1592683-post91.html, and http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/1592759-post93.html. A before and after picture is shown http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/1636985-post120.html, but worth repeating. JCBraconi's reponse: "This lens had a cataract before !" http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/1637159-post121.html. Sounds about right and worthy of using in a title. Thanks JC. Before haze was removed: After: Now that I have a useable lens, I would like to find out how far I can push the lens. So a few nature pics. Photographed yesterday afternoon with the lens, wide open, I count 304 cranes, + or - a few counting mistakes. This is a crop of the upper right side: Today's Sunset further West @ f/11: And further South @ f/11: If I overexpose by a stop or greater at f/16 or f/22 I still can detect in the images the damage caused likely by a reflection of the sensor on the last lens element and back as pointed out by telewatt http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/1592759-post93.html. It's still visible a bit even after post=processing. Best, K-H.
