I had mine for several months and only used a few times. As I was putting it away, I looked inside and saw 3 bubbles in the lens. I thought it was a problem in the glass. Solms found that it was water and decided that the lens had been submerged. I never had it near water. They charged for repair (not covered) and sent it back. I opened the box, looked in the lens and now the blades do not form a circle. When the aperture is changed, the shape changes. An expensive lens and now it will be gone for more months. jaapv Posted March 6, 2011 Share #2 Posted March 6, 2011 Probably the water was condensation which can happen easily to lenses that are stored improperly (Temperature changes around the condensation point and packed away without the possibility of ventilation) As for the blades " not forming a circle" do you mean that the aperture is asymmetrical, or that you can see little angles where the blades join, varying with the aperture setting? swamiji Posted March 6, 2011 Share #4 Posted March 6, 2011 When my 24mm Lux was new,one or more of the aperture blades would not open fully. I called my dealer and they said to bring it in. Xmas Posted March 8, 2011 Share #6 Posted March 8, 2011 If you have had it out on a cold day and brough it indoors to central heating you can get internal condensation, coffee bars are worst they have steam humidifiers for lattees... drink beer instead... Most of the condensation will be on outside but lenses are not hermatically sealed like Leica Binocs...
