It's funny because CL has actually been ok for computers and iPad. Â Anyway. It's off CL and for now the market.
Advertisement Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Hi h00ligan, Take a look here Now March. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
earful Posted March 8, 2011 Share #42 Â Posted March 8, 2011 looks like steve huff is taking the x1 (along with 2 m9s) on tour with seal in south america. i was amused to see that he referred to the x1 as sleek, sexy and slow. maybe leica could get the firmware update out in time for the tour, so huff can came back and refer to the x1 as sleek, sexy and snappy. it would be good publicity for both leica and the x1. dkCambridgeshire Posted March 8, 2011 Share #43  Posted March 8, 2011 Quote from the Leica X1 Instruction book:  "Installing firmware updates  Leica is constantly working on developing and optimising its products. As digital cameras have many functions that are controlled electronically, some of these improvements and enhancements to the functions can be installed on the camera at a later date.  To do this, Leica provides firmware updates at irregular intervals which you can easily download from our homepage.  When you have registered your camera, Leica will inform you of any new updates."  ... Thus appears that Leica will Email all registered owners as soon as the firmware update is available? If so, there is no point in wondering whether we have missed the update ... we should all know at the same time if Emails are sent to everyone.  dunk
h00ligan Posted March 9, 2011 Share #44 Â Posted March 9, 2011 We'll all know because within minutes there will be 19 threads here about it.. the results, problems completing, disappointment, praise, and one titled 'is that really it Leica?" earful Posted March 9, 2011 Share #45 Â Posted March 9, 2011 uh oh. steve huff just put his new x1 up for sale on his site for under $1500 - will only take it on tour if it doesn't sell. maybe he has inside info that that update is a long way off? Â Or maybe you actually believe what he wrote, that with an m9 and a 35 he no longer needed the x1. If I had the m9 and a 35 I would sell my x1 as well. elbonedeedo Posted March 9, 2011 Share #47 Â Posted March 9, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Yep, not surprised he's selling it. When he bought it, he didn't have another M9 yet. Now that he's got that, selling the X1 makes sense. Besides, he's gotta offset that new MB Pro he just bought

If I had the m9 and a 35 I would sell my x1 as well. Â if i could afford an m9 and 35, i could afford to keep the x1 and probably would because it's nice to have something with dependably good iq that is small and lightweight - but hopefully not too slow. h00ligan Posted March 9, 2011 Share #49 Â Posted March 9, 2011 The thing that suprises me about that sale is that he was gung ho on a comparison with the x100.. and while I understand that he supports a lot of his own review gear, I am surprised he didn't hang onto it for another month to do that shootout.. Â But then maybe he has one to borrow. Either way, his sale price is very low - and of course I wonder if there's any other motivation... as he seemed in love with it again.. for about a week. I have no judgment.. it just makes me curious. That said, the more I see of the 'other' camera, the less I want one.. and if anything I'm just turning sour on the whole idea of a fixed lens compact over a grand. jsrockit Posted March 10, 2011 Share #50 Â Posted March 10, 2011 ... and if anything I'm just turning sour on the whole idea of a fixed lens compact over a grand. Â Then why not just deal with the fact that you are going to have to go the DSLR route and learn to lug it everywhere with you. I know women who do this all the time. h00ligan Posted March 10, 2011 Share #51 Â Posted March 10, 2011 easy now Rockit! That's what I'm thinking. That and use the gf1 more.. get a few lenses now that people are jumping ship.. or GXR with two modules.
jsrockit Posted March 11, 2011 Share #52 Â Posted March 11, 2011 Honestly, the GF-1 is a good performer in most situations. I have a few keepers from that camera and my girl's G1. At 1600 ISO and below... I'm fine in more situations. At 3200... only a few I've been satisfied with after converting them to B&W. Unfortunately, for me and my wallet, the M9 is next in line for me in the next year or so.
h00ligan Posted March 11, 2011 Share #53 Â Posted March 11, 2011 I'm still fighting the m9 urges.. it really is the perfect solution - small and full frame. Â and lens size.. Â ack the cost!
