Your Old Dog Posted February 27, 2011 Share #1 Posted February 27, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I attended a mini photo convention in Niagara Falls today (Saturday) and purchased a copy of Silver Efex Pro 1. The guy demonstrating the software told me that version 2 was supposedly released today. So for you guys using Silver Efex you might want to download the free upgrade. Ray.......... Advertisement Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Hi Your Old Dog, Take a look here Silver Efex Pro 2. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
richfx Posted February 27, 2011 Share #2 Posted February 27, 2011 The v. 2 upgrade is free only if you bought v. 1 in December or later. I paid $99 for the upgrade less 15% discount (discount code NIKPSS, posted in the Digital Post Processing Forum by a member). I'm running it on Aperture 3.1.1. To be honest, it seems like they released a beta version - multiple bugs and no one at NIK to contact over the weekend. Will have to wait till Monday after work. 57andrew Posted February 27, 2011 Share #3 Posted February 27, 2011 There is already a thread about SEP2 and its gremlins although to be fair some people have not had problems. I agree it is ridiculous to launch with no support available but I did eventually get a support response here in HK from their international rep. I have played with it a little after taking 3 hours to get it properly (?) installed with a manual workaround on LR3. I think you'll like it Ray - it does a fine job when it is up and running properly.

Your Old Dog Posted February 27, 2011 Author Share #7 Posted February 27, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sorry guys, the fellow I spoke with today actually said version 2 came out today. He likely said it to get me to fee comfortable buying version 1 with the free upgrade? I posted it here because this is the only "section" out of 50 or so that I read as it would take all evening to read them all. I've seen many guys mention they use Silver Efex here so that it would be a good place to post it. Sites with more then 2 or 3 "sections" are very hard for me to read as I frequently forget which ones I've been through and which ones are virgin. Washington Posted February 27, 2011 Share #8 Posted February 27, 2011 I recently changed my Mac to boot into 64bit. It sure works better, but some apps. were not designed for such. So, I lost Nik "noisewear" which was really good. I have now downloaded the trail version of the software you recommended. Again, thanks!
Dannybuoy Posted February 27, 2011 Share #9 Posted February 27, 2011 Well so far it seems much faster than the first. I'm elidigable for the free upgrade but for some reason my old serial doesn't activate it. Will have to just run the trial until their customer service get back to me to resolve. Trial seems to be the full version though. Seems excellent so far!
thighslapper Posted February 27, 2011 Share #10 Posted February 27, 2011 Works fine on an iMac with aperture 3 ... seems faster and with no glitches so far...... but...... since installed when I start Aperture it asks for my Aperture serial number before it starts....... although not every time....... not a clue why.....
