I received the shade attached ti the lens but, no cover, is there a part number for that cover? I want to thank you for all your helpful information concerning this. My question therefor is does Leica provide a front lens cover when you buy this lens brand new in the box? Yes, you do. One can also buy the lens cover for $26.95. My brand new one came with a lens hood cap #14212, not a lens cap for use without hood though. But you can always get a lens cap, but then where do you put the hood which is not very deep. I've already lost one, and several times backtracked and found it laying on the ground. It is just not designed to stay on very well. Fortunately, most the time it falls off when removing the camera from the bag- I guess a value added feature PS- also not a great idea to take off the hood, since the lens protrudes past the end of the housing, leaving it very vulnerable.
