Junkyard Angel Posted February 19, 2011 Share #1 Posted February 19, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) my iiif is still in the mail, and i'd like to know if i'll need an adapter to switch from a summicron 50mm f/2 to a color skopar 21mm? and if one is required, which would you recommend? Advertisement Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Hi Junkyard Angel, Take a look here changing lenses on a iiif. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andybarton Posted February 19, 2011 Share #2 Posted February 19, 2011 If the CV is a screw thread then it just screws on. If it's a M mount, it won't fit at all, of course
earleygallery Posted February 20, 2011 Share #3 Posted February 20, 2011 As Andy says, if the Skopar is an LTM (Leica Thread Mount) version you're fine. You can get adaptors to fit LTM lenses to Leica M mount cameras, but not the other way around!
Junkyard Angel Posted February 20, 2011 Author Share #4 Posted February 20, 2011 wow, i got lucky. i did not know this before i bought the 21mm lens. but it is in fact, a screwmount lens thank god. thanks for the help.
earleygallery Posted February 20, 2011 Share #5 Posted February 20, 2011 Lucky or unlucky, if it was an M mount you would have had an excuse to buy yourself an M camera too! Actually I prefer using the wide lenses with finders on the lllf because of the smaller size and closer positioning of the finder to the lens. One of the snags of using a Barnack or other LTM camera is you are confined to older Leitz lenses (Nikon or Canon) or modern Cosina, Konica, ... etc LTM lenses. earleygallery Posted February 20, 2011 Share #7 Posted February 20, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Snag to you Noel, but I'd call it a benefit! Less can be more, not that there's a shortage of choice of lenses for the Barnacks. If one must have latest Leica lens performance for their LTM there are the limited edition thread mount ASPH lenses which crop up on the s/h market fairly regularly, albeit that they are more expensive than the M versions. Xmas Posted February 21, 2011 Share #8 Posted February 21, 2011 Snag to you Noel, but I'd call it a benefit! Less can be more, not that there's a shortage of choice of lenses for the Barnacks. The choice for an M is wider. If one must have latest Leica lens performance for their LTM there are the limited edition thread mount ASPH lenses which crop up on the s/h market fairly regularly, albeit that they are more expensive than the M versions. Hmmm are more expensive ... seems like 'are rather more expensive' to me, astro even. If it is a dull day if I have the choice I use Multi Coated (MC) lenses but on a bright day single coated, I dont have a MC collapsible 5cm - the CVs are too expensive...
