Advertisement Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Hi jaapv, Take a look here Buying Duty Free. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
edmond_terakopian Posted May 31, 2011 Share #62 Posted May 31, 2011 Does you sales receipt indicate that the purchase price included VAT? Being VAT registered, being able to claim the VAT is the pertinent question for me. On the receipt is the full price. Then a line saying Airport Adjustment (EU). Lower down, the receipt says Tax and Duty have been paid on all sales for passengers travelling within the EU. The receipt doesn't have a separate VAT part, so it looks like Dixons do pay that themselves. Regardless, if you're saving the VAT, you just save it rather than having to put it through on your VAT return. Admittedly this negates the advantage of buying at the airport if one is VAT registered. Edmond

Makes you wonder why Dixons would bother selling something like an M9 at a 16.67% discount because I can't imagine there's any margin left for them.
