dpitt Posted February 16, 2011 Share #6 Posted February 16, 2011 guess No body knows. screw it. mods please delete this thread as it is essentially unanswered and of no use to anyone. I would like to know the maximum shutter actuations our forum members have. That should give an indication. Of the 2 D2's I have , about 14000 is the maximum and still going fine. brucek Posted February 16, 2011 Share #8 Posted February 16, 2011 I'm not sure anyone knows, and I'm not sure there is anything to be concerned about. With your usual camera shutter, like in an M camera or a Nikon / Canon D/SLR, the concern about shutter length is there because the shutter is a large object that has to be able to move very, very quickly. That sort of shutter isn't used in a camera like the D2. It's probably a simple iris shutter. If you want to see what the innards of the D2 look like go to http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/discus_e/messages/3/203687.html?1142791133
John Thawley Posted February 17, 2011 Share #9 Posted February 17, 2011 I'm not sure the shutter is a traditional configuration either. Especially given the lack of noise. In motorsports there's a theory that noise is friction and friction equates to wear. If that were to be applied to the Digilux 2 shutter, I'd say that shutter actuatuation is a minor concern. I know my LOUD Canon DSLR shutters are supposed to be good to 150,000 - Hopefully someone has a definitive answer for you. JT
caver3d Posted February 19, 2011 Share #10 Posted February 19, 2011 I would like to know the maximum shutter actuations our forum members have. That should give an indication.Of the 2 D2's I have , about 14000 is the maximum and still going fine. Isn't it true that Leica Service has been known to reset the D2 (in terms of actuations) once they have replaced the sensor? Or is this a myth? BTW, I'm a new member of this forum. I have two Digilux 2 cameras and a Panasonic LC1 (along with my other Pany, Oly, and Sigma (love that Foveon) cameras). And, yes, I am a Digilux-olic, and I need help. That's why I've joined this Forum like the rest of you D2 aficionados. I feel at home here. caver3d
