Thomasru Posted February 12, 2011 Share #1 Posted February 12, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have a Metz Mecablitz 44 MZ-2 flash and a M6TTL can anyone confirm which SCA 3502 adaptor I need. Looking at the paperwork that came with the flash it states I need a SCA 3502 adaptor M ? but I can only find adaptors with a M3 or M4 sub designation. I'm getting really confused, I've had this flash for a few years and never used it, I was going to put it on ebay but as I'd get peanuts for it thought I'd keep it, but need the right adaptor of course, to avoid damage to the camera etc. I've search high and low for the answer with no success :(so here's hoping the answer is here on the forum. iliahi Posted February 12, 2011 Share #2 Posted February 12, 2011 I use an SCA 3502 M adapter with my M6ttl and it works as advertised with my Metz 45 CL-4. Best flash work possible. Check out the Metz website for more details.
cbretteville Posted February 12, 2011 Share #3 Posted February 12, 2011 I have the documentation for the SCA3502 M4 and according to that it works your M6TTL. In fact the Home: Metz lists that The M6TTl is compatible with SCA3502 as of M2. Carl
spydrxx Posted February 12, 2011 Share #4 Posted February 12, 2011 My understanding is that the Mx designation is the number of the latest modification. IE....M would be the original adapter, and subsequent programming modifications would tend to be more inclusive or with additional features. So if the instructions say M works with your camera, than subsequent mods should work as well, and perhaps better as bugs are worked out. I have also heard that you can send an older mod to be "reflashed" and incorporate the newer features, but have never tried that out.
cbretteville Posted February 13, 2011 Share #5 Posted February 13, 2011 That is correct. The M or Mod designation referr to the firmware version installed in the SCA module. My 3502 M4 can be upgraded to whatever the latest is should I need that. Carl

Thomasru Posted February 14, 2011 Author Share #10 Posted February 14, 2011 Call Metz, they will upgrade your 3502 to the current model for free. Hi Thanks for that info. I have tried my SCA3502 M3 on my M6TTL and it at least fires off the flash. I'll have to see what the results are like when the film is processed. Not sure what if any addition features I'll get by upgrading to M4 revision. TomR;)
spydrxx Posted February 14, 2011 Share #11 Posted February 14, 2011 According to my information, the Adapter 3502 Mod 4 looks like in addition to what earlier mods provide, that it provides certain functionality between with your flash model and certain other Leica Cameras, such as the M8, M8.2, M9, Digilux2 and CM.
