corradoerina Posted February 11, 2011 Share #1 Posted February 11, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) We have had some difficulties with our DLUX5 when shooting HD videos. For example with the photographer standing still and facing the sea, filming a person kiting in front of the sea with zoom to 90 mm equivalent, small waves breaking, the camera suddenly loses focus, and takes a long time when trying to refocus. That may happen several time in a 60 to 90 sec video. We noticed the same in a few other situations. Is it normal? is it the sections of the composition changing (for example the small waves breaking, or the person moving quickly)? Or is there something wrong with our camera? Or with the firmware? Or .... :-D Best,

Shootist Posted February 11, 2011 Share #2 Posted February 11, 2011 More then likely the person holding the camera is not standing still. Moving the camera slightly and with that the focus area to some other part of the scene. the camera only knows to focus on what it can that is in the auto focus area. With so much going on the camera is uncertain on what to focus on.

Maybe a solution is to set the AF to manual and focus to infinity? Then the scene is stable and there is no "breathe" of the AF.
