alternatives to focus calibration at Solms?

Hi all

 

although I am really thrilled with my new (for me) M8, I can't help but notice that focussing is not always easy, mostly because the half-transparent image used for focussing is vertically misaligned just a tiny little bit resulting in some subjects never "jumping" into focus. Vertical lines are easier but even here I noticed a little bit of discrepancy, both in real life as well when taking pictures of a ruler under controlled conditions. The real

 

Sending my camera to Solms seems inevitable but this would mean a wait of 3-5 WEEKS according to the friendly lady on the phone today. Someone on this forum (jaapv?) mentioned rangefinder calibrations being carried faster and cheaper by respectable workshops elsewhere in Europe, what are your experiences? I would like the job been done properly, of course, but being without this camera for so long is nothing I am looking forward to. I'd much rather be out there using it.

Confirmed from here too.

 

Will & Cathy have done some wonderful work on several of my older cameras and lenses. Not just CLA work either. I have had several items repaired, restored or modified by them, and I am 100% happy with the quality of the work performed. :)
