DX code override/change?

I find myself in possession, for the first time ever, of a Leica (or any camera for that matter) that has a DX code reader. If it doesn't find a DX code it defaults to ISO100. So far so good, except I like to change the film speed up or down and it has no way of setting the speed manually. I could dial in +/- EV, but I'd like to do that as needed depending on the scene when shooting.

The DX reader contacts look electrical and I guess regular tape fixes adding black squares, and I guess I could scrape off paint using an Xacto knife or something similar.

Does anyone have any other idea/method/experience of somethings that is easy and works?

Thanks,

Carl
